Mid-Bronze Age - ceramic
Museum of the Art and History of Provence - Le Brusc, Châteauneuf de Grasse
Inv. 97 494
Diggings at the Notre-Dame du Brusc site in Châteauneuf have yielded an abundance of items reflecting daily life in the Bronze Age. The diversity of ceramic shapes and decorations reveals a wide variety of influences. Among these items is this streamlined cup, known as a poladien because of its morphological relationship to pottery from the La Polada site in Lombardy. The handle, which is made from a broad strip, takes its name, ad ascia, from the fact that it resembles an axe blade.
