Kept by the Maubert-Malvilan family, this box of colours has always been attributed to Jean-Honoré Fragonard.

Analyses carried out on samples from the box by the French National Museum Restoration Service give credibility to this hypothesis. These colours, which are identical to those used in the eighteenth century, are found in Jean-Honoré Fragonard's palette, on works where bright yellow, vivid reds, expansive blue skies and brown tones are omnipresent.
