From the sixth century BC, some ceramic vases, called " plastic vases " become figurative. Vases shaped like heads, animals, characters became more numerous. Its function was close to that of an aryballos: for transporting oil or kohl. Vases like this belonged to soldiers or athletes who smeared their bodies and armour in oil to be closer to the gods and gain strength.
