The Provence Art and History Museum

1- «Heliographs at museum» Michel Graniou, from 26th June to 27th September 2020

Michel Graniou's photographic style combines film photography using a large-format camera with manual development in his lab in equal measure. Graniou’s latest challenge sees him taking on the pioneers of photography, painter-photographers for the most part, such as Charles Nègre, and contemporary visual artists, at the cusp of the 19th and 20th centuries.

2- Charles Nègre, from 6th November 2020 to 31st January 2021

To celebrate the bicentenary, in 2020, of Charles Nègre’s birth, the town’s cultural facilities are getting together to pay homage to this multi-faceted artist who originates from Grasse. Provence Art and History Museum is displaying its collection of pictorial works as well as ink prints, produced through the héliogravure process, and photographs, together with items on loan from the Charles Nègre Mediatheque - La Source, opening in 2020.
